SIMPLICITY: A profound thought?

Last week in a tragic accident a young father's life was ended .

He left behind three young sons and a wife and no doubt many,many friends and loved ones.

He was a public servant, a State Trooper and by all accounts(I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him or his family) was well loved and respected.

Most importantly , he knew and loved his Saviour, according to those who knew him.

His passing was mourned publicly by hundreds and hundreds of people, covered in the news and escorted by his fellow officers,friends and coworkers in a moving display of honor and kindness.

Last week a middle aged father 's life ended after a 2 year struggle with lung cancer.

He left behind a wife and married son & daughter and a few friends and relatives.

A life of hardship and difficult choices made his life less than picture perfect but happy all the same.

He was in and out of church, his family has had numerous setbacks and in the end his passing was noted with a small service with a few friends and a bit of family in a small chapel with little or no notice from the rest of the world.

Both will be missed .

Both were loved.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints

I wondered as I watched the final moments of the simultaneous events how each of the families felt.
I know a bit about it....and I know that losing a loved one hurts, no matter whether they were honorable, upstanding heroes or just plain old every day people.....like my people.

I know that people surrounding you at the time of your loss is like a warm blanket on a blustery cold night! It's still cold and but it makes you feel much better to be wrapped up in the warm blanket.
I also know that both families will face the same difficult things ahead..learning to live differently... but living still.

Some ladies were mentioning the events of the week at prayer meeting last week and Rebekah put it all into perspective for us with this quote from .....".Horton Hears a Who"
