This is the third time we've "built" this house.
Originally my hubby built it for his dad to spend weekends out here.
The plan was to have him near us in his declining years to take care of him- but he didn't want to be out in the country when that time came-sooo..... each of our adult kids have rented the place from us at one time or another.
We added a couple of bedrooms about 6-7 yrs ago. Then Hurricane Rita dropped a huge tree on it and we just didn't have the heart or energy to do it again.
Chris recently got a job in Sulphur so it looks like they will be here,at least for the time being, so it makes sense to get the little place livable again.
Our family loves to do projects like this together- and it always turns into a party!!!!!
As you can see we have plenty of outdoor work just to clear the path to the house- then there's the inside!!!!
The foot bridge was completely destroyed by the hurricane-it was where you see all that brush.
We put the fireman on the bbq pit for our Saturday meal
We started with a crumpled tin roof and busted rafter tails.........
And finished with the three boys(Andrew,Luke and Chris) all on board to finish roof!!!!!
It was a lot of work but it was also a lot of fun!
