Black and bleaux!!!!

That's right- black and bleaux-berries!!! I finally found, purchased and planted my berry bushes.
That's one really good thing about the gulf coast- our growing/planting season is LOOOOONG!
I wanted these in before spring but things just kept interrupting-I was getting worried!
I still have a grapefruit tree to plant to complete our citrus orchard.
Our oranges have been soooo good this year. We pick them right off the tree-pre-chilled and enjoy!
Next on the farm- can I start calling it a farm now?- is to finish the gate on the chicken yard and go get my chickens!!!! I can hardly wait.
Let's see- we have catfish, citrus trees, blackberries, blueberries, chickens(soon) and we are hoping to get a spring garden in also.
Luke would like some rabbits, so that may be in the future too.
I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it is so fulfilling to provide at least a little of what we love to eat. The learning is fun too.
Remind me about that in the middle of summer when I'm tired from the flowers, fish and fertilizing chores!

Oh Autumn, you will so enjoy the "fruits" of your labors! I am so envious of you....fresh citrus. What I wouldn't give to be able to grow that in PA. Our growing season is so short compared to yours...but then, we do have snow to look forward to EVERY winter!! By February I will be sick of snow! Thanks for stopping by my blog...it is so good to keep tabs on our friends this way! I just love blogging!
Have a wonderful Christmas week!
Hugs to you!
